"The Morals Of Chess"

"The Morals of Chess," written by 1779 by Benjamin Franklin, can also be interpreted for the morals of life:

1) Foresight: Look into the future and consider the consequences. Think about the real advantages to yourself, then wonder about the impact on others and how that might then reflect back on your life. Imagine how you might righteously defend your position.

2) Circumspection: Examine the bigger picture, the dangers, the possibilities, the probabilities. Be more brave about options that scare you.

3) Caution: Don't make moves in haste or in passion. Keep to the rules and guidelines of etiquette, law, and Commandments. And, understand that once you've made your move, you set into play a series of events over which you may not have recourse, from which you might suffer in your soul, as well as your life.

I have to live with myself and so,
I want to be fit for myself to know.
I want to be able as the days go by,
Always to look myself straight in the eye.
I don't want to stand with the setting sun,
And hate myself for the things I've done.
I can never hide myself from me,
I see what others may never see.
I know what others may never know,
I can never fool myself and so...
Whatever happens I want to be,
Self-respecting & conscience free!

Ahhhh.
Life is good.
I am content, serene, and peaceful. What a nice change. It is so very very nice for each of us to be here together, enjoy a little family breakfast & dinner, and still be able to all 3 retreat to our private corners of the world. Ahh..... joyous.

You Are Megara!

Charming and witty. You are always the first person to come up with a wisecrack. Sure, you have an attitude, but that's why people love you. You keep them on their toes. Sometimes you can be misleading, but always end up doing the right thing for the people you love.

Happy Anniversary to us!! ♥

It was a nice anniversary. We slept in, enjoyed some coffee together this morning, fussed over appliances not working, brought in more boxes and unpacked a little more, and then off to YV & JT! One of my favorite (PNTA) clients, Marie @ Mane Colour put highlights in my hair today and styled it better. It looks great. And she did if for FREE because she likes me, and it was a good-bye gift for being such a good advertising rep to her. Awww! And she got me flowers too!! Big beautiful barely bloomed purple irises. They're gorgeous. So yeah, Matt picked me up when we were done doing our girlie stuff, and we went and picked up another load in JT before heading back to Hemet. We stopped for a very quiet, romantic, candle-lit dinner at Stefano's on the way home. yummmy food, outstanding service, perfect atmosphere. The owner Stefano came out with a little decorated plate of tiramasu (sp?) with a candle, and he and the servers all (loudly) wished us a happy anniversary. It was cute, and sort of embarrassing too. If I am lucky I'll get a card tomorrow. If I am really really  lucky I might get flowers at work. But I am not holding my breath for either one. I got him a small gift, and of course it hasn't come in yet. Just my luck I'll get it next Monday! Ha! Wouldn't that be ironic!

Sooo yeah, I finally have someone to train at work! I have 3 days to teach her. Cindy begged me to stay one more week, but.... alas, I cannot. But I have made this position sooo friggin easy for just about anyone to be able to slide right into. Roberta is a smart girl, and she will do just fine. I am exited to train her and get her going. (That will help absolve me of my guilt of leaving a little.) But this new job is going to be SO AWESOME!!! I haven't been this exited about a new upcoming job since I got hired at Wilson's! The anticipation is half the battle I think.... And the 2-wk notice thing is always difficult too. God knows Richard is practically pushing me out the door at the Star!! He is driving me so crazy. I'll have to remember to thank him for making my last few days hellish at the Star. Prick. But at least I get a lil party on Friday, as if half the people there really care that yet another advertising person has come and gone.... Although this experience is teaching me the value of perserverance and building long-lasting client relationships. I have gotten responses from clients like, "Yep, that's one thing about this job, I get to meed a lot of very nice advertising people!" Because he's had at least 4 ad reps in the last 2 years with the Star. (But he liked me a lot a lot because I was very dependable & persistent.) So, at the very least I know that I did a good job in the short time I was there. I learned a lot, and this job was the perfect stepping stone towards Bingo Lingo. I called them today and asked what the dress code was for training, and she giggled and said, "casual baby!!" like jeans & flip flops casual!! How cool huh??? Gotta love it. Ooh I am so looking forward to this!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

not perfect

"Love me if you Can" By Toby Keith

Sometimes I think that war is necessary.
Every night I pray for peace on Earth.
I hand out my dollars to the homeless.
But believe that every able soul should work.

(chorus)
I'm a man of my convictions.
Call me wrong, call me right.
But I bring my better angels to every fight.
You may not like where I'm going,
but you sure know where I stand.
Hate me if you want to, love me if you can.

I stand by my right to speak freely.
But I worry 'bout what kids learn from TV.
And before all of debatin' turns to angry words and hate,
sometimes we should just agree to disagree.
And I believe that Jesus looks down here and sees us,
and if you ask Him, He would say

I'm a man of my convictions.
Call me wrong, call me right.
But I bring my better angels to every fight.
You may not like where I'm going,
but you sure know where I stand.
Hate me if you want to, love me if you can.

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
I just love this song. I sing the chorus loud & proud. I have had so many people tell me things that verify that I am indeed a woman of my convictions, and there is never a question to where I stand. I just love this song!!!!!!!
thats absurd
Hoobastank: "Did You?"
Did you say everything you could?
Do the things that you thought you would?
Did it ever occur to you that this could be your final day?
Did you go where you wanted to go?
Learn about what you wanted to know?
Did you ever really give something back instead of always taking it?
Did you find what your looking for?
Did you get your foot in the door?
Can you look at yourself and feel proud of all the things you've done?
Did you inspire the ones that you knew?
Make a difference to those who knew you?
Did you finally figure out what it is that makes us who we are today?
(Chorus)
Don't waste another day
You know I know where you get one
Don't waste another day
To do anything you haven't done
Did you always give it your best?
Is there anything you regret?
If you could have another shot at it all would you do it just the same?
Was it all you thought it could be?
Are you the person you thought you would be?
Or did it feel like you were spinning your wheels instead of moving forward everday?
(Chorus)
I never know what to post about when there's no drama in my life!!
~
Things are going great so far. We are mostly moved in, just starting to get stuff out and settled. Lots to unpack still, lots to load from the storage too!! Seems never ending!!
~
I am very very exited about my new job. Exited and scared at the same time. I am praying that things work out as they should. I feel like God brought me here for a reason, and this is where He wants me. I think. I hope. We'll see!!  I can't wait to get out of the Star though!! My coworkers are driving me batty!! Like they are trying to make this a rough week for me or something!! Ug. Whatever. At least I have tomorrow off for our 2-year anniversary. We will be moving most of the day, fun fun. But one of my clients offered to give me a free haircut & highlights for being such a good ad rep for her, so thats cool! And Matt and I will go out to dinner I suppose. I'm so mad that his friggin present didn't come in!! I'm keeping my fingers crossed that it will come in tomorrow while I am in town. Here's hoping!!
Our new home...
We have begun moving. Friday was such a disaster, but it worked out for the best in the end. Heres the story: So we were supposed to meet with Geezer on Thursday night after work. We had an appt set up days in advance. I had a hectic day at work, and then had to rush to JT to get clothes for Matt and I because we were staying the night at moms. I had made an appt with a carpet cleaning guy for 9 am Friday, because at this Thursday night meeting we were supposed to sign paperwork and get the keys. Well the damn Geezer called just before 7 and cancelled. We were sooo friggggin mad. Or at least I was anyways. So we rescheduled for 11 am Friday morning. We get there, and wait, and wait... We finally call him at 11:20, and he's just barely left his house, which is an hour away. We went ant got breakfast, and looked through the paper and the "For Rent" magazine. We found a few cool places, and went and looked at one. We only needed one look. This place was only $75 more a month, and way wayyyyy superior in every way. We begged this apartment manager (Julie) to expidite our credit checks and see if we could get in the same day. The Geezer called while we were in the office with her and Matt called him back a few minutes later and said we had found something better and we would not be taking his unit. He was cordial enough and said thank you, and that was the end of that!! We had our credit checks in to Julie by 1-1:30, and she called us back in just over an hour and said we were good to go!!!!!!!!!
So here we are. Our new home. We got the keys yesterday at 3. Everything is fresh and new. Fresh paint, new & cleaned carpets, new tile... This place is FABULOUS!!! I love it. It has grass and big maple trees in the front & back, a nice big back patio with enough room for our full sized hot tub, the BBQ, and our patio set. It's roomy and fresh and quiet and serene..... Oh its all I could have asked for and MORE!!! I love it!!!! 2 car garage, laundry hook-ups in the garage, a community POOL, great location, quiet neighborhood, on-site mainitence people,  manager on site, available 7 days a week, (and via pager for emergencies), big windows, central air & heat... I couldn't have asked for a more perfect place to live at this time in my life. Even my cats are happy, which of course makes me happy too.
Ahhhh. Life is good.
Thank the Lord.
Martina McBride "Anyway"
You can spend your whole life building something from nothing
One storm can come and blow it all away
Build it anyway
You can chase a dream that seems so out of reach
And you know it might not ever come your way
Dream it anyway
God is great, but sometimes life ain't good
And when I pray it doesn't always turn out like I think it should
But I do it anyway, I do it anyway
This world's gone crazy and it's hard to believe
That tomorrow will be better than today
Believe it anyway
You can love someone with all your heart, for all the right reasons,
And in a moment they can choose to walk away
Love 'em anyway
God is great, but sometimes life ain't good
And when I pray it doesn't always turn out like I think it should
But I do it anyway, I do it anyway
You can pour your soul out singing a song you believe in
That tomorrow they'll forget you ever sang
Sing it anyway, yeah sing it anyway
I sing, I dream, I love, anyway
The (Personality) Color Test
Your Existing Situation
Unwilling to extend herself or exert undue effort (with the possible exception of sexual activity). Feels that further progress requires more from her than she is willing or able to give. Would prefer reasonable comfort and security rather than the rewards of greater ambition.
(true true. ask Matt.)
Your Stress Sources
Wishes to be independent, unhampered, and free from any limitation or restriction, other than those which she imposes of herself or by her own choice and decision.
(100 % true.)
Your Restrained Characteristics
Willing to participate and to allow herself to become involved, but tries to fend off conflict and disturbance in order to reduce tension.
Believes that she is not receiving her share--that she is neither properly understood or adequately appreciated. Feels that she is being compelled to conform, and close relationships leave her without any sense of emotional involvement.
(strange. mostly true, except the last part. I tend to have too much emotional involvement!)
Your Desired Objective
Over-imaginative and given to fantasy or day-dreaming. Longs for interesting and exciting things to happen and wants to be admired for her charm.
(I was the kid in 6th grade that was jealous of the kid that broke their leg, because they got so much attention)
Your Actual Problem
Feels restricted and prevented from progressing; seeking a solution which will remove these limitations.
(yep.)
My horoscope......
My horoscope today was just too creepy for words:
"From certain lights this looks like the greatest opportunity ever, but from others, it also looks like a foolhardy risk. What to do? The stars say it's important to gamble if it makes you grow. So does it?"
Tis been a long time....
Damn myspace. It got me hooked in there for a while. But I am back! HA! So there.
 I hate myspace, it takes forever to load, I have been trying to get the damn page to load for 3 days so I could blog about my vacation!! Grr. So.... I am back. I updated all my information, including my bio & interests, changed all the fun stuff. I am back, and I am loyal to the wonderful, simple, easy world of livejournal.
There is a whole lot to update about, so I will have to do that later. Suffice to say I am happier than I have been in a while, thanks to therapy, I think.
Congratulations, Manda!
Your IQ score is 117
This number is based on a scientific formula that compares how many questions you answered correctly on the Classic IQ Test relative to others.
Your Intellectual Type is Insightful Linguist. This means you are highly intelligent and have the natural fluency of a writer and the visual and spatial strengths of an artist. Those skills contribute to your creative and expressive mind. And that's just some of what we know about you from your test results.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~

IQ stands for intelligence quotient. Supposedly, it is a score that tells one how “bright” a person is compared to other people. The average IQ is by definition 100; scores above 100 indicate a higher than average IQ and scores below 100 indicate a lower that average IQ. Theoretically, scores can range any amount below or above 100, but in practice they do not meaningfully go much below 50 or above 150.

Half of the population have IQ’s of between 90 and 110, while 25% have higher IQ’s and 25% have lower IQ’s:

Descriptive Classifications of Intelligence Quotients

IQ Description % of Population
130+ Very superior 2.2%
120-129 Superior 6.7%
110-119 High average 16.1%
90-109 Average 50%
80-89 Low average 16.1%
70-79 Borderline 6.7%
Below 70 Extremely low 2.2%

Apparently, the IQ gives a good indication of the occupational group that a person will end up in, though not of course the specific occupation. In their book, Know Your Child’s IQ, Glen Wilson and Diana Grylls outline occupations typical of various IQ levels:

140 Top Civil Servants; Professors and Research Scientists.
130 Physicians and Surgeons; Lawyers; Engineers (Civil and Mechanical)
120 School Teachers; Pharmacists; Accountants; Nurses; Stenographers; Managers.
110 Foremen; Clerks; Telephone Operators; Salesmen; Policemen; Electricians.
100+ Machine Operators; Shopkeepers; Butchers; Welders; Sheet Metal Workers.
100- Warehousemen; Carpenters; Cooks and Bakers; Small Farmers; Truck and Van Drivers.
90 Laborers; Gardeners; Upholsterers; Farmhands; Miners; Factory Packers and Sorters.
